Atlas Orthogonal Technique
Atlas Orthogonal Technique
At Precision Chiropractic West, our goal is to help patients return to wellness, health and enjoy life naturally, without the need for drugs or surgery. Dr. Hart is a highly trained doctor in the Atlas Orthogonal Technique – a technique that can be the key to returning your body back to health…with no twisting or popping of the spine!!
What is the Atlas?
The Atlas is the top bone of the spine. It is the vertebrae that the head rests on. The average human head weighs between 9 and 14 lbs. This is a tremendous amount of weight sitting on top of such a small, freely movable bone. Considering all the ways we are physically able to move our head and neck, it is not surprising that the Atlas can misalign quite easily. Thoughts, trauma and toxins are among the greatest causes of atlas misalignment. Unpleasant thoughts in the human body translate into an internal chemical and hormonal environment changes that can often cause spinal misalignment, muscle tension, etc. Environmental toxins, food toxins, and toxins we put on our body (certain soaps, skincare, make-up) can have a similar affect on the internal environment of the body. A wide variety of trauma, sometimes as simple as sleeping wrong or receiving a bump to the head, can cause such misalignments to occur. You can imagine how significant falls and auto accidents can be to the alignment of the spine.

If you don't pop, how do you adjust? How does it work?
Instead of twisting or popping the neck, we use a high tech instrument to perform the correction needed. It is an entirely painless procedure. Click the video below to watch how the instrument works.
What is Body Balance?
The Atlas is in perfect position when it sits level or perpendicular to the head and neck (Orthogonal.) This is the true definition of the old phrase “Having Your Head On Straight!”
When misalignment of the Atlas occurs, the head begins to tilt. The body then reacts automatically by attempting to straighten the head while keeping it centered over the feet. This instinctive search for a return to body balance causes a great deal of stress on the spine, the shoulders, pelvis, hips, knees and ankles.
